    LAPD 2/04 Class

I was wondering if anyone on this site is going into the next LAPD class. I know the next class isn't until 2/04 due to the new curriculum they are starting.

I am hoping that I will. I need to drop some more weight, but hopefully I can get it down in time.

Same here on the weight thing... almost there. Then background time.

What is this new curriculum they are starting?

Tactics are earlier than the 15th week. PT would be the entire time not just the first 15 weeks...everything sounds like the change is for the better.

How much can they run you at twice a week? They are really smart when it comes to that.

I've heard that they like to run you atleast 4 miles at the OCSD and GWC academies down here.

True it's going to be hard to run if you last run on a Thurs and then not until Tues. You start to lose fitness in 3 days! There is no time to run on your own during academy either.

PT was at least twice a week. I believe it's more now at the Academy. But when I went it was totally up to you if you wanted to run on your lunch time. Most of the time I ran before class 1.5 miles and at lunch 3 miles. By the time I was about to take my PT final I had lost 26 pounds and bulked up. I never had a lot of upper body strength until the Academy. Now I'm smarter, stronger and faster than I'd ever been.

No..but they usually do that about 2 weeks prior to academy date..if you're lucky. Some people get the notice after orientation which is the Friday before the Monday start.

LAPD is changing the way they teach and they wanted to start at the new year but wont have it in time for Jan class. Therefore they are starting a Feb class instead.

    Whew that was long winded!
