    Franklin (TN) PD

So I was at the Criminology Career Fair at school (Indiana State University, if anyone's curious) yesterday and while I was going around chatting with recruiters from various departments, I came across the booth for Franklin PD. I chatted with the officer for a few minutes and walked away extremely impressed with their department. From the looks of it, they have good pay, benefits, take home car program, and a decent selection of career opportunities, so I'm strongly considering applying. Franklin itself also looks very nice, but sadly, I've never visited the place or really been to Tenn before, for that matter, so I wouldn't know for sure. If anyone on here has any in depth info on the department or the community itself, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

I took the test for them last month, and believe it or not did not pass by 1 point (that is the only test I have ever not passed), but I didn't really care because I'm hoping to get on at Nashville Metro and so far things are going good. They had these weird "personality" questions (and I'm not talking about the MMPI type questions) along with the normal written test stuff. Anyways, the department from what I saw looked extremely professional. The HR ladies that administered the test were very friendly, and the city itself is actually were my Grandparents live, and I have spent numerous vacations down there, it is extremely upper class living. It's where like almost all the country music singers, and Tennessee Titans players live (including Pac "thug criminal" Jones lives). If you ever visit there you would love it, I know I always have. Thats all I know about the department is from what I saw at the testing, but maybe some of the officers can give you more advice.

Thanks for the info Keenman. I don't remember exactly, but I think their recruiting officer told me that if I let them know that I'm coming out of town to test, that they can consolidate the written and physical test in one day. Do you know if there's any truth to that at all?

Yes, if your an out of state applicant (like I was) you take the test, hand it to the lady (she grades it right in front of you with you standing there). Then if you pass like I didn't  (I'm still a lil bitter) You immediately go take the physical test. The physical consists of an obstacle coarse thing, that ends with a dummy drag. Then if you pass both of those they will try to get you in for an oral interview usually that day (sometimes the next day depending on how many applicants they have). Like I said great department from what I can tell, but beware of the "personality" section on the written (there is literally a right or wrong answer on the personality questions on the test). A or B,...Would you rather A) Express yourself through music B) Read a book..........You get the picture!

My uncle started out at Franklin PD. After 13 yrs he made Chief at another department. As far as I know he had a good career there. Useless info, I know.
