Porn & Personal History Statement

Hello there. My name is Justin, I'm 22 years old and am currently applying to the Sacramento Sheriffs Dept. as a trainee.

Let me start by saying that I have a completely clean criminal record, as well as driving record. I have never used any recreational drugs, never been fired from employment, nor have I been written-up or otherwise reprimanded at work.

I have been doing my research and was looking over the Personal History Statement form that I will be filling out in the next stage of the hiring process. There is only one question that made me look twice was the one referring to Child Pornography.

NO, I am not a pedophile, nor do I possess any kiddy porn!
However, When I was about 14 or 15...hormones raging...with access to the internet, I would look at porn. I would typically download it via peer-to-peer file sharing programs.
I never actively sough out illegal porn, but sometimes it would be obvious that the "models" in the content I had downloaded were under 18 y.o.
I have never since been exposed to, or looked at illegal pornography.

Obviously, I want to be truthful. I figure that any attempt to omit information will be caught on by the polygraph operator anyhow. So...what is my best option? Answer "yes" to the question about child porn, and explain the answer in the space provided on the last page? -OR- Answer "no."

If I answer yes, will this be an automatic D.Q. regardless of my explanation?

Obviously, the answer is "yes" you've looked at illegal child pornography. Will a polygrapher ask for specifics about this, allowing you to explain the matter? Very likely. Will this DQ you? Can't say. Be honest, or get kicked out of the process, period.

I have to admit that I do see a big difference in a 35 year old man who likes to look at 15 year old girls and is attracted to them sexually, and a fifteen year old boy who likes to look at fifteen year old girls and is attracted to them sexually.

I think there is a word for fifteen year old boys who don't want to see fifteen year old girls without their clothes on - gay. :D

Be prepared for some pointed questions, and any answer you give will snowball to increasingly more pointed questions as they fish for the entent of the activities.

For example, I was asked in one pre-interview questionare if I ever looked in a window for "lewd" purposes.

Not thinking about the LEGAL definition for "lewd" I said yeah, especially when I was like 20 years old - Everytime I walk by and see an open window I'm secretly hoping to see a naked woman inside :D

Then I was called into a private room, and asked about these "peeping tom" incidents, whether I was ever arrested for it, how often I masterbated in front of the windows, did I ever tresspass and hide in people's bushes, etc etc :eek: :eek: :eek:
