I forgot one more sin to confess:

I used to carry a knife when I was in JH and HS. Of course so did the teacher.

Come get me fellas.... (if you can locate the trailer in the desert)

Just because mcsap had just said that these admissions were good for his arrest stats, so I piped in about how it actually says on the application form that you can be charged based on info provided on the disclosure form.

I agree with mcsap, I say go for it and just be honest.

I was being funny Metallicat ( or at least trying). My frame of reference was more of an interview with a perp than a application interview.

For someone to apply to be an LEO, you might as well say EVERYTHING. Walk out of the interview knowing that NO ONE will ever be coming back to you later saying " why didn't you tell me about the time you did this______?" etc.

Omissions due to a recalcitrant nature have a habit of biting the person in the a$$

I know you were being funny, that is why I said "funny" in my original post there. I was just pointing out that it is ironic that your comment was actually truthful, although meant as a joke.

According to the Colorado Revised Statutes (16-5-401) to be exact, the Statute of Limitations for commencing proceedings on criminal conduct basically says you're in the clear for being prosecuted for it. Seeing how it was 12 years ago, I wouldn't worry about it. don't neglect it though, you don't want it coming up on your background investigation "why did you fail to mention..." something like that.

In re: to the gum, it's considered a crime against property (theft) but don't worry about it. noone's perfect. and if someone comes across as being perfect, they definitely won't be hired.

    Past offenses

There's not many people, especially guys, who haven't done some stupid sh_t when they were young. In fact, I would consider it almost abnormal if a person did absolutely nothing wrong, ever. People make mistakes. If you choose to admit your past "crimes",then that's your choice. But, if you freely admit that you made fake ID's and used them to buy beer, it's obviously not a plus. Being 100% honest is great, and may cost you a job.

A job that you don't deserve anyway.
Its not like doing these things would cost you every single job in the entire world. You won't be homeless and destitute. You just won't be a cop. They are entitled to have stringent guidelines for hiring.

Stump,I was obviously talking about a Law Enforcement job, given the forum. I did not think I had to break it down that far, as to indicate jobs at McDonald's, etc., but apparently, some people require every detail to be spelled out for them.
