Ooooohhhhh. You passed 5 of them (not telling in and of itself that you were truthful), but what happened to the other 29 polys/CVSA's? Typically, the poly/CVSA comes after the Oral Board and PT test? So what happened to those? Were you provided your "Thanks but no thanks" letter before the poly/CVSA for the other 29? I'd suspect so.

I do so based off your post where you advocated the OP to make up figures instead of being truthful. I then backed it up with your comment of "Its just a different approach to the thought process." Sir, there is only one approach...the truth, out in the open for all to see. Your long winded post telling your tales of misfortune in trying to get hired hints to the fact that you were either subtly or blatantly dishonest, but either way, it was a lie. You either tell the truth or you don't. There's no gray area there.

These statements were based on the "truth" that YOU posted. So either my statements were made off true facts as YOU presented them, or you lied in the manner in which you told your tales of woe. In which case, your character in regard to LE is painfully evident. Good luck in any profession EXCEPT LE.

Well first of all, why lie? I just watched an episode of LASD Academy Class #355 and if you ever get caught in a lie, well then you are basically gone! I have already decided to be completely honest with everything. I am going to apply with 3 to 5 Dept's and see what happens. I am also going to pursue becoming a Commercial Helicopter Pilot and Paramedic as well, just in case becoming a LEO never happens.

    Laterz!

PS - WTF is OP? ( I know it ain't Observation Point )

Well of course he wasn't truthful on the poly's. Look here:

"As for that which you don't divulge. Understand that failing to reveal is still a lie. Most places rely on a poly. May I suggest some online research about polygraphs?"

It seems that he's suggesting researching how to beat the polygraph. It does seem like Level1Grad is advocating dishonesty... I'm in a similar situation as both L1G and the OP (six years AF service w/ a tour in Iraq, a lot of bad stuff when I was a teen, all as a minor), but it certainly seems like honesty is the best policy. I had a ex-police officer tell me not to volunteer information, as in if they don't ask, you don't have to tell. Is this considered dishonest?

BTW, good luck with the Helo Training. That seems as though that would be a LEO job in higher demand... seems like ev'body wants to be a LEO, so many agencies are able to be much pickier than they used to be... ;)

    Level1Grad ,

There is a reason you cannot get hired. No matter what you call "lying" it is still lying. Let me give you a little inside information here, we don't like to hire people who are dishonest... and you are clearly being dishonest.

Should you decide to post even ONE MORE STATEMENT that could remotely be percieved as suggesting someone be dishonest on a poly, bypassing hiring checks-and-balances, or just plain speaking out of your a$$ with uninformed information, you may just find yourself getting a little time-out in the corner.

I don't know about other depts, but controlled or not with meds, it would be a DQ. The reason being that heart attacks are considered on the job injuries and would send you off on a healthy disability for the rest of your life (if you live through it). The things my dept is strict about on the physical is heart, BP, back and knees. Those are the problems that end most careers early.

The rub is, they are betting that you will continue to take your meds. Something they have no control over. That's why they don't accept anyone who needs meds to control anything that would normally DQ for.

Amen! If you are willing to lie to get on a dept, your morals will probably allow you to "fudge a little" in court under oath. And what's wrong with taking a few bucks out of that $100,000 you seized from a drug dealer? See the pattern? No thanks.
