That's going to be difficult

Question is, do you have money? meaning, about $3-$5k to use? if so, then you can live in the Bronx (i loved it there), Queens or Brooklyn by yourself. It's going to take some "BUDGET DISCIPLINE" but it can be done. Manhattan is out of the question on the salary of a beginning officer, which is only $25k the 6 months and then $31k the last 6months of that year. If you know someone your extremely cool with, you can ask them if you can live with them for no less then 2yrs, which is about as much time your going to need to save up enough to get your own place in the 3 bouroughs i mentioned above. For those who have told you to move to NJ, the last time i checked, an NYPD officer couldn't live outside the 5 bouroughs at all....illegal and whatnot; although i know of a few that do....they just haven't been caught yet....why risk it????? the next best thing to having your own money/place or living with family is to pick up the Village Voice (newspaper) and look for apartment shares. that can be just as good and can (CAN...you still have to look within your own budget of course) save you some cash. Just make sure you have your own key and possibly a padlock to your room.....that's up to you when you interview for the apartment.
Hope this helps you....it helped me when i 1st moved to NYC.

If i had a $1.00 for every time you said something intelligent in your lifetime, i'd never have enough money for gas.
