    Chief's Interview

So far I have passed most of the test including the written, 2 physical agilities, the oral, the background and the poly. This monday I have the interview with the chief.... I understand this is important but in your experience is this just a formality? I'm so close and waited so long for this and now I can taste it! The academy starts next monday already so I'm hopefully getting in right under the gun. Let me know what you think. Thanks

Depends on the department. I wouldnt ever consider ANY part of the process as a formality. Go in there and sell yourself just like you have through the entire process.

Best of luck with the interview. That was the biggest hurdle to get over in the process. It went well though, even though I was sweating through the whole interview with my Chief and Assistant Chief. The overall theme of the interview with my Chief, regardless of the questions that were asked, seemed to be revolve around ethics, integrity, teamwork and diversity. He also wanted me to talk about my strengths and weaknesses.

You've done a lot to get this far. Keep charging!

Thanks guys for the replies.....You're right I will not be slowing down now! I'm looking forward to going in there in my best dress and giving him no reason to turn me down. Any other tips for me?

FWIW, I went to a Chief's Interview last year and didn't get selected. It was a formal panel interview with the chief, assistant chief and their top captains. I was told I did well, but they had few slots available and several guys who had much more experience at other departments than me.

If you've made it this far, they obviously see much in you they like, and think you will be a good fit. Give it all you got, and good luck.
