To whomever can help me--
I am 20 years old, in the police academy at a local community college, in the top 10% of my class. I have two years private security experience, two years of bail enforcement experience (bounty hunting) and almost to an Associate's Degree in CJ.
My dilemma/question is this:
I was a police explorer at a local police department for a year and a half and was involved in a DV with my girlfriend at the time. She was charged for harassment, and because i called the cops on her, she called internal affairs on me and said I impersonated a police officer. she also had her cousin and brother say the exact same stuff to IA investigators. I was kicked out of explorers, but never charged because i don't think they could prove it.
When I apply to police departments, what should I say? Should I just leave the fact I was an explorer out of it? Once again, I was never charged, just investigated for it and that was that.
Should I only say I was an explorer if the question comes up? The IA investigators said "you will never be a cop anywhere because of this." but i was never charged, so????
I also have a clean record, except for a ticket from 4 years ago. What should I do? PLEASE PLEASE help
Thanks!
