Check out this site and see what you find: http://www.gapost.org/
If the conviction is still outstanding (not expunged), you cannot carry a gun by federal and all state laws... i.e. this is not the UK, cops have to carry guns... so you're SOL.
I have heard rumors about some, and very very few departments at that, who will accept expunged felonies with like a million mitigating circumstances regarding the rest of your life.
What was the original charge? My guess is if it is anything other than possession of drugs, you should probably look into other job markets...
I am on a lot of lists...
There is no excuse for stupidity- except genetics.
I will definately check out the site. The charge was for criminal damage to property. I broke the reciever on a pay phone. The charge is not on my record. I have applied and recieved a concealed weapons permit since completing the probation. Legally I do not have to admit to being convicted of a felony. I just am not sure if it will affect me in becoming a police officer.
You have to admit it in your POST certification application under penalty of perjury.
Question - The Liberal Party Nominee for New York County Sheriff.
I have admitted it. I have been 100% honest about EVERYTHING.
I have already take the city exam (passed) physical part (passed) taken the state test (waiting on test results) been through the oral board and polygraph. I have to submit the personal history statement by the 20th, will have it to them tomorrow. Then i guess I just sit and wait.
Breaking a pay phone receiver is a FELONY ? Was this a solid gold pay phone at the Ritz-Carlton ?
You have to do 5 grand in damage in PA to be charged as a felon.
Creeper Cop
Not a felony here either, the only time criminal mischief is a felony here is if its in relation to a domestic.

I sit corrected, what I should have said is the only time I have charged crim mischief as a felony is when it involved a domestic incident.
