yea its good
where did u see that? ill PM u other info
WPPD is a good department but expect to wait at least two or three years before being hired. I know a guy that waited two and a half years to be hired and he is a city resident and was already a police officer and has major connections within the department. I also have a close friend that I went through the academy with that got a 90 on the written test and was hired after three years. Residents have a huge advantage in most departments in Westchester and upstate and cops also have an advantage in many of those places. It makes sense for a department to take an NYPD PO that has already made it through the academy and has done the job and liked it enough to remain in law enforcement and has definitely proved that he or she is not in it for the money. Call 212-RECRUIT to get started on your path to greener pastures.:p

Funny you say this. I knew many people who are Nypd Cops and tried to go to westchester departments like White Plains and were rejected. When I ask officers in these departments why would they do this. They say many departments don't like laterals. They want to mold and train their own officers.NYPD guys are are to cocky."They've done and seen it all alrerady"
I'm not sure of this it could be just a rumor!
I have yet to see or hear of a department that doesn't offer almost as much o/t as you want or can handle.
New York has many departments that offer little or no OT. The NYPD often caps overtime and almost never gives away cash OT. Once in a while the precinct will throw you 8 hours of so called anti terrorism OT (ATLAS) or quality of life enforcement OT (IMPACT) but it is usually a real pain to get. In the command that I worked only the most active cops got the OT. I consistently made 50 hours a month of arrest overtime except when we were capped and then I would make 35 hours a month. I know guys in small towns in NY that do about 10 hours a year of overtime and I know a Port Authority PD Sgt that has not made less than 200K in the past 5 years with a base pay of a little over 100K.

Anyone have any updates on their processig with the White Plains Police Department.
That's pretty interesting. Having participated and passed a physical for a local department, my opinion is that conducting the run and resistance tests on the same day is a much better gauge of fitness than conducting them on seperate days. We had to run a long sprint, then do sit ups, then do push ups, then run a 1.5mile course. The sprint will cook your legs and it's done first for a reason. I think alot more people would have passed the test I participated in if the exams were done seperately, but you could make the argument that maybe those candidates would not necessarily be strong ones.
