I got a call today from City Hall. I do my physical tomorrow @ 10:30. The physical test is scheduled for November 21 @7:30. Upon passing that the written test will follow that afternoon. I am so darned excited!

Good luck, bud, and try to get lots of sleep tonight! (yeah, right, like you'll be sleeping!!)
Good luck for tomorrow
A snout has told me he's got a set of nostrils, so go and get a W so we can spin his drum to see if he's got any monkey gear - The Sweeney.
Good Luck! Let us know how it went.
Thanks! Just a physical tomorrow. The run, pushups and situps are next Friday. Should be easy enough. I am around 1 and a half minutes under the time for the 1.5 run timed in my neighborhood with hills and such. The actual run is on flat ground (local park/marina). ~ 25 pushups in a min. and ~25 situps in a minutes, again easy. So far the most I can do was 45 pushups (correct form) which was done in 48 seconds. The situps was 40 in a min. This weekend I am going to freshen up on my written test preperation books. Happy and excited is an understatement at this point.

Judging by your posts here I can only believe you will have much success. Good luck.

You will blaze through this test. Do your best beyond the minimun requirements, it may be worth brownie points.
It pays to prepare and yet there will undoubtably be some there that look like the head french fry taster at McDonalds and won't do 5 pushups.

Thanks for the positive replys guys (didn't mean to rhyme :D ). My physical is done and now I await next Friday. I plan on running the course this weekend sometime, trying to simulate the same temperatures (time of day). I plan to retake all the practice written tests over the weekend as well to refresh. It helps knowing my current employer is behind my goals. My office manager seems as excited as I am (No, she doesn't want me to leave LOL.).
best of luck!

Good luck .. how long do thay give you for the 1.5 mile?
From what I understand, a long time compared to other areas. Fifteen minutes, twenty-eight seconds. With walking 2-3 minutes I am running it in 14:08. I know I can do better, but with the temperature change it makes it hard to practice.Originally posted by modeler80

Just an update. I passed my PT with no problems. I scored 3rd or 4th highest on my written test. I take my VSA (Voice Stress Anaylsis) on Friday. The Chief addressed the applicants at the PT and informed us that there is one solid position, but that he feels sure the city council will allow 4-7 total new hires. I am still feeling very positive about things and I am continuing training for academy. This may prove to be a quicker process than I had firs though with the academy starting January 5. It is different in Alabama than some of the other states, in that you cannot send yourself to academy. You must be employed by a law enforcement department (So I have been told by the city clerks and several officers). Anyway I know several of you wanted to hear an update as I found out so here it is. Again thanks for the support.
