Places hiring that sponsors their recruits in the academy???

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows of any cities that are hiring which will sponsor their recruits through the academy. I'm looking for places near Modesto, Tracy, San Jose, or as far as Sacramento. I tried with San Jose but they are now in a hiring freeze, right before I was to go in for the physical agility test. Any info would be great.

Try a County Sheriff's position. They tend to hire a lot more than the local PD's. Modesto might be hiring because the crime rate is shooting up bigtime.

I know that the ACSD and CCSFSD have hiring freezes. CoCo County is hiring but don't sign up unless you like to shine prisoners shoes (they are supposedly "enlightened"). San Joaquin County SD might be hiring. OPD is recuiting right now.

Lots of the more pretigious departments (SDPS, SCPD, FPD, etc) either have hiring freezes or cutbacks.

If worse comes to worse, apply to the CDOC. You will never be an officer under 830.1, but with overtime most make 100K a year and with frankly little experience or training (tough job though -- I wouldn't do it myself)

Monterey just started another round of testing a month ago, its too late for you to get in on that though. I think Salinas is always hiring. I;ve also heard most depts in Monterey county are currently hiring, though I don't know how many will pay for academy.

ccsfsd-i have always wondered what that stood for!
"enlightened", hmmmm, what do you mean?

as far as places looking for recruits, i would look at the pd's website that you are interested in. they should give you info on what you are looking for.

with the california budget cut, it's gonna be difficult finding a dept to send you through the academy...but they are out there.

I work with a few guys that bailed from that area for cost of living and hating the Republik of Kalifornia.

All hirees are put through our academy....even laterals have a 12 week academy.
