    my next question

Tennessee is a "closed record" state and they want a background check. How do I get around that to get my background record? I also would lke to know one other thing right now. I took the nelson-denny test and scored 85. How good of a score is this? Will they look at this score and decide whether or not I get in?

If you can put yourself through HACC, DO IT. With Act 120 certification , you will find a job. Most dept's DO NOT require a degree but they ALL require or would like you to have Act 120.

You can go part ( 1 year) or full time ( 5 months) . You must test to see if you can qualify to go through as pre-service. Your time at HACC in the academy counts towards a degree too.

    ok

Do I have to been in this state for a certain period of time, because I moved here at the end of august. Will that even matter? This is really a life long dream and I can think of nothing else but this. I scored 85 on the written part on oct. 18. A person had to have at least 67 to pass. I just did not know how good of score this was.

A lot of those places are just there to make money. You meet the minimums and you are in.......

The police academy at HACC where I went was NOT a piece of cake. Physically and the book/testing part required a minimum of 80% to pass. The entrance test ( to see if you even qualify to try to get in on your own) is not easy either. I think to send your self through is something like $2,500 ? Plus you have to eat and live somewhere as their is no dorm.

    I know

The cost is $3010.00. I have a friend I am staying with now. I have no family close to me, but I am fine with that. I know I had to leave my family to start a new life. I know I have friends here, to help me. They have been great. They are really pushing for me to follow my dreams. Ihad lost interest in this because my parents and friends put me down because I am so little. They would tell me I was to little for this kind of work. My mother now stands behind me. My dad is upset with me, but I am not living my life for them anymore. I am living it for myself.

Some places require you to be sponsored by a dept in order to attend the academy (here is one). Others allow you to attend the academy at your expense.
