5 years military police experience: honorable discharge
1 year combat tour in iraq

excellent shape, and great health.
credit score: 760

was arrested for MIP: Alcohol when i was 16, now is expunged
and used MJ about 20 times around the same age

should i even try?

You put 7 years between your drug use and alcohol arrest.

You filled those 7 years with military experience and higher education.

You've maintained physical fitness, a mature financial standing and somehow have managed to ask a question on these forums using proper english and punctuation.

I'd work along someone like that.

Kids do stupid things, but that was a long time ago. You've obviously grown up. There are thousands of applicants out there with worth historys than you and they still have a chance.

I personally give you a thumbs up. We'll let the others chime in later as well.

Apply. Some departments are more forgiving than others SO DONT GET DISCOURAGED! Focus on who you are now versus who you were.

Everything sounds good with one exception. You are at the upper limit of what many departments consider experimental use of marijuana. That is all I see as a possible issue.

Be as honest with them as you are with us and you have a shot. The drug use is the ONLY black mark ( the MIP is too old and a minor offense).
