    Applications (Florida)

Well tomorrow I’ll be mailing my applications for Fort Lauderdale, Broward County Sheriff’s, and Coral Springs. I’m located in New York and was curious about an approximant timetable for the process. I figured some of you have gone through the process and could give me some insight. I realize that the time fluctuates.

    Thanks

Have you taken your CJBAT yet? I think you have to already complete those tests prior to application.
Eunice: A .22? Oh you've gotta be kidding me. That's like bringing a knife to a gunfight.
Detective Greenly: Yeah, or bringing a really small gun... to a gunfight.

Good luck, CSPD is a good agency. I actually tried to apply there a few years ago and got turned away. Its a hard agency to get into. I was up against an ex-NYPD investigator, a SAO investigator, and another out of state cop. They all had more experience then me so I did not make the cut.

BCSO and FLPD are also great agencies. I worked with both of them on a task force.

You also may want to look at Davie PD, Pembroke PD, and Plantation PD. Those were also great agencies. Of course it has been a few years since I have been down there.

Good luck to you. Broward County is great place to live and work. It has gotten expensive, but it is still worth checking out. A lot of New Yorkers are down there as well.

I heard if you are a Police Officer already you don't have to take the CJBAT test. Is that true?

If you go to the Coral Spring PD FAQ it says you still have to take the CJBAT, Swimming, and Agility Test. I dont know if that is a department specific policy or all encompassing.

BSO all the way! You can go anywhere in Broward County. Fort Lauderdale is really hard to get, be prepared to explain why you want to work in FT Lauderdale and what you know about it. I took an oral board with them, passed but was denyed to go any further. Good luck!
    Got my call!
