I will just provide my two cents here. Most police academies incorporate a para-military like structure...some more than others.

The academy staff will demand the very best of you, and then more. When you think you have provided your very best, they will ask for more. You will not get much encouragement from the PT/DI staff, honestly.

It is difficult to not take it personally, especially if you have worked in an environment that rewards even small improvements. Don't expect that at the academy, trust me. I have experienced one day of a high-stress academy, and I knew this para-military structure was not for me.

Am I bitter against the academy staff and law enforcement in general? Sure, I was upset. Do I agree with all aspects of law enforcement training? No, I certainly do not. However, I respect the way it is.

Some of the comments that do appear harsh from the outside, are well, just a small taste of what you will hear at the academy.

With that said, if you want to pursue police training, this forum provides you with many resources.

As a side note, the frequent use of the pronoun "you" at the beginning of sentences, indicates anger. It's okay to be upset, just don't deny it.

I'm fully prepared for that. I'll have no problem with that. However, this message board is not the academy. It's a place where I hoped I would find some valuable insight into the LE field. Some people have been very helpful, and I'm grateful for that. Others have been sarcastic and condescending, and I'm spiteful of that.

So far I've got like -16000 reputation points (whatever that means) just because people don't like me arguing against established members here. That, or they don't like the way I'm arguing.

Well, I haven't directly insulted anyone here. I've not directly condescended anyone here. I've made a few sarcastic posts, but only in response to such of the same posts.

I don't know why I'm being received so poorly on this site. I'm certainly not trying to come off as rude or disrespectful. All I've done is defend myself from unfair criticism. If people see that as disrespectful, then so be it.

When at the police academy, I will expect unfair criticism, condescension, rudeness, intolerance, and all of that. When I'm asking for help on the internet, I do NOT expect that, and I will address such attitudes the same way I would in real life.

I don't care what people think of me, and I don't have any issues of self-importance. However, if someone's going to make a statement about me that I think is false, I'm going to argue against it.

Do you all seriously just think I should lay down and take it even though all the criticism of me in this topic is completely unjust? I should just let it go?

Fine, that's what I'll do. It doesn't really matter in the long run anyway. I just hope some of the other people who sign up to this site see this topic and learn not to stand up for yourself on here if they want any kind of respect.

I suggest you need not worry about your "reputation" on an internet forum. Shame on those people who use that as a retaliation method. Take those "harsh comments" constructively as I do not believe those comments were targeted at you particularly.

One final piece of advice. It is one thing to expect verbal hazing, doing push-ups ove rand over again for not marching correctly on the first day of the academy, and it is another to experience it.

I strongly suggest that you watch the show "The Academy" on Fox Reality if you have access to it.
