    my background

first of all i want to say this a great forum. i've only been with this forum for 2 weeks and i know some of you are tired of me already because of my stupid questions..lol.. i'm just stressin..lol anyways i got hired by the bop and start in july. i'm just worried because there's some things in my background that i'm not proud of. one is i was forced to join the military by my father who was also in the military for 20 yr. and cause my girlfriend got pregnant. this was when i was 19. i was very unhappy and so stressed out. my father was always on my back and come to find out my girlfriend at the time had took the baby out. i went UA for a couple of days. i finaly went back after realizing how stupid that was. i got into trouble but did not get court marsheld. i was dischard with a honorable dischard due to anciety.this was back in 2001. i wish i could go back and change all that cause it still hunts me to this day. i've done a lot of growing up these past couple of years and have a family. i've been in corrections for 3 and a half years now. so my question is will that affect me with staying wit bop. i still haven't talked to BI, I passed everything and they hired me.. lol.. thank...

overall I don't think you'll have a problem as long as you disclose everything. I read in another post that you have to relocate. You may consider getting an apartment or temporary housing until your background is cleared so you don't get in over your head. Just make sure you are 100% honest on your SF-85 and especially during your interview with the BI. It'll be a few months away yet.

    thanks

thanks for the comments. Do you think i'll get in trouble for not saying anything in the interview or on the application. i didn't think it was necessary it didn't ask. it asked if i was ever courtmarshald or ever been fired from employment due absent. i remember 2 years ago i hurt my leg durring a prison riot and was in workers comp for a couple of months and still needed more time. i didn't have anymore days in the books so i quit. have all the paper work.. well i hope i don't get in trouble.. i realy want the job.

It's always best if you think something applies during your BI, to bring it up. Prime example is the leaving the job w/o notice. You can either explain your half of the story, or when they pull the records and talk to co-workers they can just hear their side. At least you can explain why you did something as opposed to letting someone else do the talking.

During your interview, you will be asked about any disciplinary actions or write ups with previous employments. This would apply. Even though it's a background, it is still an official federal investigation so if you lie you can be prosecuted. You don't want anyone to think you were witholding information or trying to steer the investigation in another direction to cover something up.

when i hurt my leg at work with DOC of Puerto rico i was in workers comp for a few months or less can recall. i needed more time but didn't have anymore time in the books. the way they work over there is that if you need time and have enough in the books they issue you license of absence with approval from supervisor. i have all my paper work of all the liscenses of absence and are approved. well anyway, when i found out that i didn't have more time in the books. i put in my notice to leave due to the fact that i need more time off. i then moved to florida and got hired on with DOC in florida and been there ever since. my problem now is that after a year DOC of Peurto Rico is saying that i owe them for a license that i should have got. i'm so pissed cause this could affect my BI for the BOP. i didn't do anything wrong. i even have my last evaluation say nothing but good thing and also says about the worker comp.
