    background check question

Looking for your guys opinion. Am I wasting my time even applying? I have 2 d.u.i.s both over 6 years ago. I have used MJ in the past many times. Will this be an automatic DQ? Will strong test scores outweigh these blemishes?

I don't have much faith in you getting hired. I would definately have a backup plan for an alternate career.

While I am not a LEO I do not see a career in Law Enforcement in your future.
One DUI is bad enough 2 is worse. Maybe you will think before you do something like that again.

No strong scores will not help you. If DUI's are an automatic DQ it does not matter if you score 100% on everything.

My suggestion is look into another job field.

2 DUI is 2 too many, this field is so competitive anymore in my mind you cant compete.

You admitted to using marijuana "many times". If you used marijuana beyond a certain number deemed as experimental use (varies, check with the department), it is deemed as a disqualifying event.

was your record ever expunged of the DUI? or is it clearly stated in your record that its a DUI? my friend recently got a DUI and it was turned into a traffic violation (after $2000+ in lawyer fees)

What you are speaking of is not an expungement, it's a reduction of the charges. Doesn't matter anyway, because the original arrest record still exists somewhere and it will say DUI. Any halfway competant BI will find that out, and if the applicant did not list DUI as an arrest he had, it will be an automatic DQ for deception.

It will still show as a dui in the charge package and records.....Because that is what it is.

It is a technicallity that was dealt with in court and not by the arresting officer.

Even if this doesn't automatically DQ you, you will still have to compete against people who haven't gotten DUIs or used marijuana. Time for plan b.
