    academy prep

I am in the process of getting hired with Colorado State Police and I will be attending the academy in January.
I was wondering if or what I could start studying now to better equip myself before beginning the academy. Should I start learning statutes etcetera? Are there manuals I can pick up to give myself a bit of a head start?
    Thank for your continued support!!

IMHO , the two biggest things that you can do are...

    1. Stay OUT OF TROUBLE. It isn't hard to be with someone who does something stupid so be careful.

    2. Stay in shape.

I can't answer for CO but I had about 2 weeks of FTO and than was on my own for about 3 weeks BEFORE I went to the academy. I must say that that time certainly halped me a little in the knowledge dept. BUT...I would suggest that you just not charge headon into the Vehicle Laws etc. prior to the academy. They have a time tested method to teach people what they need to know.

Perhaps there is a CO officer/trooper that you can specifically ask.

My state no longer allows an officer to work the road prior to the academy

Thanks for your insight. I will step away from the statues manual. I am just so eager, and I have a tremendous desire to separate from the "norm". All suggestions are welcomed! (Wow, on the road before the academy!)
