State Cert exam tomorrow AM

Well folks, it all comes down to moments in life, doesn't it?

Tomorrow is the defining moment I have prepared for over these last almost 9 months! I'll be taking the Florida State Certification exam around 10 am CST in Panama City, FL. 350 questions, 4 hours, and then its all in the history books, good or bad.

Of course, I'm really thinking (okay, hoping) that I'll do GOOD!

Headed out here in a couple minutes. Got a good room there in PC, gonna drive out this afternoon, get a good, quiet dinner, maybe 1 beer, hot, HOT shower, turn all phones off, watch a bit of tube while flipping through the reviews one last time, and then a good nights sleep. Up early for a light breakfast (watch the coffee! Don't want to be up and peeing throughout the whole test!) and then take the test of my life!

Wish me luck, all! I should know in about a week or two how I did, and I'll let everyone know. (Unless I fail, of course, and then I just probably won't say anything! :p HA! But I don't see that happening...)

On another note, what happens if an officer fails the exam? Are they given another opertunity to take the test, or simply fired?

Well, it's after the test now. Had to be there at 9 am so we could sit in the testing area, no talking, no sleeping, no drinks or snacks, and no going to the bathroom until 10 am when the test started! (Heck, if I did fail it, I won't check in until 9:45 am next time!) Then it took me about 3 hours to get through the 250 questions, then it was time for some lunch with classmates and a boring 2 hour drive home!

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes! I feel really good about the test, pretty sure (about 98%) that I passed. If I fail, it'll be a HUGE surprise! (And NOT a good one either!) But I don't think that's what happened.

To answer your question, it depends on the agency. Some will let the applicant go, but most seem to leave it up to the officer. Do they want to stay on in a training position for another couple weeks until they can take the next test? I had a personal assurance from my Chief that no matter what, I will still have a job (took lots of pressure off!). And from asking around, it seems to be pretty much the same way in other agencies. Although there's one guy from my class that this is go or no-go for him. It's his 4th time taking the test (he failed so many he had to re-do the academy), and if he doesn't pass it this time, it's curtains for him!

But thanks again to everyone who has left me well wishes! I should know as early as Friday about the results, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm thinking more like middle of next week or so.

I'll be sure to let EVERYONE on here know, ESPECIALLY those who are in charge of VERIFICATIONS in my area! :D

Just to let everyone know, it's now Sunday morning, and STILL NO RESULTS from the state!!

The wait is DRIVING ME CRAZY!!

Maybe the results will come out tomorrow (Monday)...
