One of my friends admitted to using pot on more than one occassion, recently up to 2 years ago. The other one, was charged with assault for a fight he got into at a club in San Diego. He was never convicted of anything on it though. Both of them have passed their background, and are slated to go into the next academy class whenever that is. Myself have never touched drugs in my life, nor got into a fight since the age of 15.

LAPD themselves say that they are looking for Minorities. Hell, either last weekend or this upcoming one, the LAPD is having a hiring fair and special testing for Hispanics in the LA area.

I'm not saying hiring minorities is a bad thing... I know I'd rather have a partner that spoke another language or had a different background than I did. Makes for a better team. I do however do not believe in taking some of them before other canidates because of the fact that they are a minority.

The whole topic is a can of worms.......don't open it. They want good people period. This does not mean spotless record, or all that other crap. It means that all the people that you came in contact with during your testing and background thought you would be good for the job. There are statistics that are hard to ignore. The Latino population now outnumbers the Caucasian in Los Angeles. Yes I saw the billboards about the Latino hiring expo.....there is a reason for that....to increase the number of latino applicants. So why is it so hard to hire minorities......go figure.
