possible number (range) of polygraph questions to expect

    Hi all,

I've been wondering about something that maybe the experts out there who've been there already can help with. I've heard varying numbers as to how many questions will be asked at the actual polygraph test (that is, while actually hooked up to the cuff and such and after the pretest interview).

Some say 10 or 12 questions, others say 15, still others have said they were asked 50 or even 60.

Just wondering if as many as 50 or 60 separate questions could be gone through while on the blood pressure cuff (ouch) in 4 hours, or if this would take 8 hours and is therefore not possible. Could 50 or 60 questions mean 20 questions asked 3 times? I don't know if my arm could hold out for that long.

I'd really appreciate some clarification on this, and this should help many others too.

I know this really isn't clarification, because I don't really remember exactly, but if I had to take a guess from my memory from about 8 years ago, I think it's 15 questions or so... and they do the same test 2 or 3 times.

I don't remember feeling like my arm was gonna fall off... I was too stressed out about the test itself. :D Feel better?

The test itself is short, and you'll have a break between each iteration.

All questions will be discussed beforehand; there will be no surprises.

From what I remember from my test, I think it was only around five or six actual "on the machine" questions. They asked me the set twice but sometimes they may go three times, depends on the reading and operator. Of course, that's after the 8 gagillion questions the poly packet has you answer first. :D

I was asked 10 questions. I had to take the exam twice, but was given a break in between. They had my cuff pretty tight, there was no way I would of made it past 10 questons.

From my understanding they look over your packet and choose certain questions to ask you. I took two polygraphs since i lived in fl and passed both. Expect 2 or 3 sessions of 10-15 questions.
    Got my call!

My first one was a Q&A with the admin that lasted about two hours then a break, then he told me what ten questions he was going to ask, he hooked me up and asked me the ten, gave me a break and hooked me back up and asked me the 10 again. My more recent one was given while hooked up to some arhcaic torture device looking poly and asked about 50 questions. We did this three times with about 5 minutes in between. My first admin had a good nature and sense of humor, the second one had about as much personality as a rock.

I passed both of them, but I must say that if I had to do it again I would choose my first admin.
