    The day has come!!

    I received a phone call this morning. I start working for the Phoenix Police Department Monday morning. I will be working for them until the academy starts April 23rd.

    My last day of work for Homeland Security was yesterday. I am so excited! This is freakin awesome!

    Again, thanks to EVERYONE on this forum! RP is definitely, by far, the best resource ever.

    Belmar its been very long road for you as it was for me. I am very happy for you and proud of you for sticking with it and never being discouraged!

    Congrats!!! See if there is still an officer named Walker. He is probably K-9. He was the first teamleader I had in the 10th Mountain Division.

    Thanks for the support. I am kind of numb right now. It took so long to get here and I know there are others where it has taken longer. Still in that state of shock. What Roger said is so true - no matter what you come up against...NEVER give up!! My wife encouraged me and helped me so much, she wouldn't let me give up.

    I had an awesome BI. My grandfather, at the moment, is dying from complications from Dementia. He lives in Illinois and my BI suggested that I fly out to see him before he passes away next weekend. He says we get a three day weekend and to take advantage of it. He was really understanding and tried to help me figure out when I could see him.

    On another note: It also feels good to have a weekend off. I know that will change after the academy.They told me that during FT, I would be working 3pm to 1am, holidays and weekends. That's alright by me! It was the same with Homeland.

    Roger - Seven weeks already in....how's it going?? My academy is 18 weeks long. Any tips??

    Yup Belmar we just finished week 7. The first 3 to four weeks are the toughest mentally. Just remember when it seems they are torturing you they are really just getting you to try to push yourself past the point of what you think you can do, and show you that your capable of more. Everything they put you through has a purpose its that simple.

    We only have a class of 20 so for us it was important to come together as a group as quick as possible. You learn each others strengths and weaknesses and help each other out where you can. Basically yelling is just yelling and the pain from PT will go away. Stay focused, work hard and before you know it you'll be graduating. I definitely look foward to it and want updates on your progress. Good luck to you and my prayers out to your grandfather. Welcome to the brotherhood!

    belmar if you dont mind me asking, what did you do for homeland security? Ive heard a couple of my friends who have friends that work for homeland security and was wondering what types of jobs they offer with that.

    WOW - hey buddy ... congrads! I took some time off from my job search and have been involved in something else while I wait to start again. My wife has been majoring in CJ and I am about ready to start again ... you and I were in the same situations when we were talking last year - CONGRADS! I will be emailing you soon.

    Homeland offers Bomb Detection Officer, Behavioral Detection Officer, Screening Supervisor, Instructors, Screeners.

    There are many more jobs within Homeland.
