    Misdemeanor question

I am applying to several agencies and all the personal history statements are different. Heres the question......

Have you ever been convicted of a misdemeanor?

I was ticketed for a M.I.P 15 years ago when I was 18 years old. I just paid the fine and didnt fight it. I believe an M.I.P is a misdemeanor in Texas. That being said, how do I answer this question?

How about trying to call the agency, and asking someone there. Or better yet, write the MIP ticket into the misd. convictions.

Covering up or attempting to decieve information pertaining to your past history when asked is looked HIGHLY down upon, to say the least.

From what i've heard, I think 15 years is more than enough time for a MIP. Anything else you're curious about reporting? Remember to also tell them about your drug habits in highschool, and that time when you stole money from your mom and felt bad about it.

If you paid the ticket, you pled guilty.

MIP is not a felony, so you have been convicted of a misdemeanor.

    Answer, "Yes."

    In NYC its a violation.

But as citicop said a guilty to what was charged = conviction.

You can't go wrong if you note it down.

If it is irrelevant to the agency they will simply ignore it. If they consider it something they want to check into further then you have been forthcoming in your background, which is exactly what is required.

RemyG: Where did I state anywhere that I was going to or wanted to deceive anyone? I simply asked if paying the ticket was considered a conviction. I have had other agencies ask more straight forward questions like "Have you ever been ticketed for an M.I.P.?" That is easy to answer. I just wasnt sure if paying a ticket was a conviction, but I would never hide the fact I was ticketed for the MIP. Obviously someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

Citicop, Phatasm and MoBrien316: I appreciate your straight forward responses.

If thats all the history you have to worry about,
you should be ok. Put it down when you fill out the form.
On a clear night, I can see the other deputies emergency lights at least 10 miles away.
But it isnt flat here LOL
