INFO.. Background.

Ok i really do appreciate the info you guys have been giving. I have been lurking through the boards ever since i figured i wanted be a police officer.

Here is my issue (back ground).. Just graduated college with a CJ degree in December. 2.74 gpa, I turn 25 next week

Negative part: Jan 2002 I walked out of a store here in texas with a display phone, probably worth more than $50 dollars which is a class B Misdemeanor, So the court dropped to a C and gave me deffered Adjudication for 6 months. Ever since then i have never been in trouble. I don't know what was going through my mind when i did it. I just know that this was the worst choice oI have made but I'm taking it as a life learning lesson because this thing changed me for the better. It made me realize that I need to get my life together and focus on school.

Driving: I pulled my record and it showed that i have had 3 ticket since '03 but i have been pulled over since then dont remember if a ticket was issued or a warning, but it isnt showing.

Drugs: I experimented with marijuana twice in 04, which i found out wasnt the thing for me.

I applied at 2 PD's Pearland and houston. But houston says they go by the initial charge which is a B msdemeanor, which means i have to wait 10 years from when the theft happened. Now i am waithing on pearland. Which i pray everyday i get, my heart is really with pearland PD.

But this is my background so far i can remember. So if u where a background investigator, what would u think of my chances. Give me some insight.

With pearland PD.. I passed the test and the physical agility. I got called in to verify stuff on my background and thats it so far.
For Houston passed Test never got to the agility.

Dude, from your post you were an adult when you shoplifted a phone and got arrested. Chances don't look to good. You should have have known better at that age.

I think your going to have a hard time getting on.

yea i know i should have known better. I was 19 and u are right. i made a mistake and that was the only time. Anyone else have any inputs. I am sorry about the double post though.
