    Turndown Letters

I received a turndown letter after my B.I...but didn't state the reason why.
Just that they found others more qualified for a limited number of positions.

Has anybody received a turndown letter with specific reasons why you were turned down? like something ommited in the background history statement

Or was my turndown letter just standard procedure?

When I got a turn down letter the agency said that they would not be considering my application due to more qualified candidates. They couldn't share any other information with me, and the paper said not to contact them. It sucks!

You guys over there are lucky. You have so many agencies. Keep trying. If it is what you really want then don't give up. Try somewhere else or try again later at the same agency.

Don't let one turndown beat you.

There are some out there that have to fight real hard to get a job in LE.

I would prefer to work beside someone who has struggled to get in the seat next to me, has had to prove themselves a dozen times over, and has had to jump through rings of fire to get there. This person has truly earnt their position and they know what they have gone through to get there. They sure as heck don't want to lose that job because it meant so much to get.

Keep your chins up guys and if you really want it, you will get it.

Keep in mind that there might have been 200 people going for 10 positions. If you were number 11, you ain't bad, you just weren't lucky on this occasion. That doesn't mean next time you won't be lucky.

Look at the positive, you were not DQ'ed just beat out by better candidates, thats something that will change as you do better in interviews, get more life experience etc. If you were DQ'ed that could be a problem but there is no shame in getting beat out by a more qualified candidate. Just work hard to better yourself. I worked for 5 years before I finally got hired for my dream job, keep the chin up!

    Thanks for the feedback....
also, i was wondering if anybody has received a turndown letter that stated you were disqualified for ommissions in personal history statement or something a little more specific than found other qualified candidates. I can't figure out why I was DQ'd. I'm sure i have a clean background, unless there may be a mistake beyond my control, and I did well on the background interview.

I would take the letter at face value.

There is nothing wrong with your application, there were just better applicants available for the position. Not every qualified applicant gets hired, especially with limited available openings. Keep trying, if there was an issue, you would know.
