Civil Suits and Hiring Processes

To summarize:

Part 1. Someone lied about me which causes me to lose my job for three months. After that time, I proved that this person had lied at which point my company gave me my job back. One of the guys I work with is a former LEO. He told me that I should press a civil suit against the lying party for lost wages and deformation of character.

Part 2: Last time I applied for a LEO position at my local PD, my BI asked if I had ever brought a civil suit against anyone. I answered no because I hadn't yet.

Question: If I continue with this suit, how will answering yes to part 2 affect my eligibility?

It won't affect the hiring process, unless you are one of those asshats who files frivolous lawsuits all the time.

Some departments won't hire people with pending litigation, as either party. There's a lot of factors to consider.
