A little set back

About 3 months ago I applied to a self sponsored academy. Some of you may know, I'm 19 years old with the best ambition in becoming a LEO.

Anyway, this evening I received a call from the commander and he told me that I couldn't join because I wasn't 21 yet. He also said that last year there were people my age before that were in the academy, which I don't understand. Well the requirements from the school and ALL the paper work that I signed stated and ask if I was 18 which was the minimum age requirement.

I got my 1.5mile down to 10:30 and the req. is 11:58. I was physically and mentally ready to go. Payed for my physical, tuition, had my work schedule set up for the whole summer (I'm a landscaper), so I chose the night classes.

The commander said hes going to check with the secretary at the school that signed me up and some other people to make sure. I just hope that maybe someone will be able to make it possible. It's a huge mix up

I know there are many other guys on here that have had WAY worse set backs than mine, it just kinda makes me feel better to post

Yeah I could undestand your frustration, sucks to hear man. But hey, I'm sure you've heard this before and you'll hear it many more times and you probably don't want to hear it again but your young man, just try again next time. Don't let it get you down, keep your head up and try again :-) eventually something will work out for you. Good Luck!

Is it possible the state changed the licensing requirements making it mandatory for the student to be 21 and the school was a little slow getting the word?

Better candidates in the school.

More sponsored students that would allow non-sponsored students.

More students at 21 than at 19.... Life experience.

Could be a lot of reasons. Just keep pluggin' away.
