    Calling Personnel for LAPD applicants

For those in the process waiting so earnestly on their cell phone from the hours of 10-6...I join you. I've gathered some divine wisdom to pass onto those who are in the first stages of the application. First and foremost, there is almost no point in calling Personnel to ask whats going on with your application. When they know, they call you. I learned this the hard way but every single time you call Personnel, they make a note in their system. I made the mistake of calling personnel twice in three days to find out what was going on with Background Review. The second time I called, after getting my SSN, the super nice lady said, "Oh, looks to me you called Tuesday afternoon and you were told to wait 30 days and call if you don't hear from us then." My heart froze for a second and I just said some Mumble about my BI saying he finished Backgrounds a while back. So please, don't look like an idiot like I did and be very patient. BUT....if you absolutely positively must call someone at LAPD just to let them know you are alive and well, call the Mentors at 866-444-5273. I've never really called them because I thought they couldn't do anything...they have the same access as Personnel and they're straight forward with you, they are your best friends until you get that call your in.

Since I have applied for LAPD back in September, looks like the process has changed a lot. What's interesting is that after taking my 2nd polygraph back in December, I got a call saying I passed and met with my BI. During that initial Background interview, a question that never came to mind until last week was, "Did you ever get an official letter saying you passed polygraph?" I never did was my reply. My BI said that he had to look into it but told me not to worry. Well Background finished Jan. 29th and after getting the runaround from this "Case Manager" from Personnel, I called my Mentor said everything looks fine but they want you to take a THIRD POLYGRAPH  When I said I took a second poly and passed, my mentor said I failed my 2nd poly. Asking why then did Personnel moved me onto Background Investigations, (it used to be where it was you had to pass polygraph and then Backgrounds started) My Mentor said that Personnel wants to be "sure" about the other polygraphs that I did. Gosh if Im telling the truth and i fail polygraph, i should lie and pass right :p But Personnel is putting me in limbo land again to make that polygraph appointment. Good luck everyone, enough about my jibber jabber

You are so right about them putting it into the computer when you call. I had a friend call so many times a Sergeant called him and told him to knock it off or they would put a stop to his process. He told him all the times he had called and at what time.

    Call the mentors...
