Still Hangin' In There........

It's been a while since I last posted to this forum, and my hat goes off to all that have made it on a LE agency. So far I've been DQ'd by at least 5 departments since the beginning of the year, but I have corrected some of the problems that came up. I have worked very hard toward this goal(attending the academy, passing the state test, applying knowledge on the job) and I'm trying to hang in there long enough to see it through. I need some advice on what may be a few more stumbling blocks. I have had a license suspension about two years ago, but it has been in good standing ever since the suspension was lifted. I also had a situation in 1985 concerning two bad checks that were paid for, but the county was not notified by the collection firm and a warrant was issued for me. I was arrested, but after i showed proof that I did pay for the checks, I was released. One of the departments that I applied to made these two incidents sufficient cause to eliminate me from testing. I need to know if I should continue to try, or stop wasting time and move on to something else?

are you being honest about these things or are you waiting for them to come up? The best thing you can do is throw it all out there on the table as soon as you can. don't leave anything out.

If you are unsure about anything "coming up" , I would write them down...dont let them think that you are trying to leave anything out, deliberatly or not...good luck!!

You didnt say what the suspension was for ? Points or something bad like DUI ?

2 bad checks from 1985 wouldn't count with us unless they were still outsatnding or the PD thinks they are.

The suspension was for no insurance, and everything is out and on the table.

Since when do they arrest people for bounced checks. Did you write them knowing you would never pay them back? I don't think they DQ someone over a bounced check.
