I'm no LEO so take this for what it's worth but the theft will cause you big problems. Stealing an item or two is one thing. Stealing for 2 years is another. What did you take? Pens, TVs, tanks?
Also you claim you know it's wrong but yet you haven't fessed up to the employer. I'll bet you haven't made restitution either.
If these things haven't DQed you it's still nowhere near enough time between them and you wanting a job.

Here's my issue with your past. You have a degree in Criminal Justice and want to be a police officer, but while you were getting this degree you:
Used illegal drugs 3-4 times
Had oral sex with a potentially underage girl (depending on your state)
Stole merchandise from your employer.
Did you know you wanted to be a police officer while you were committing these crimes?
I would not hire you without a LONG time to show that you matured, and maybe not even then.

A degree is no assurance of maturity.
You need more time to prove yourself.

I used to care. Now I take a pill for that.
What I don't get is the fact that people want to be officers, yet have such shady lifestyles. I have had only one ticket on my entire driving record of 6 years, and I've never been pulled over. Never done drugs, and I don't steal. How hard is that for you people?

I had a sordid youth and committed my share of offenses.
I did however put a lot of time and growing up in bewteen me and my past, including many years in the Army. Learn from your mistakes, don't repeat them and grow up. That is the only advice I can give you. Then give it a try in a few years.
The only time your past makes you a bad person is when you don't learn from it and mature.

What ive come to realize, is that people with shady pasts and sometimes ones which are bad, these people feel that what they did was wrong to the extent that they can now be on the opposite side in a sense. Alot of these people have done drugs, stolen, this that etc, and all of them now see their wrongdoings and want to take down and/or stop the same people they once were. Im now seeing that perhaps its something more than we/I can know....The feeling of doing something wrong or living such a disgraceful lifestyle, these same people want to stop this from happening to others
? Maybe thats it? Its confusing but im sure it has something to do with it...

I'll try not to.
Its just kind of rediculous that people have no respect for the law. If you want to be an officer, the BEST way is to obey the law. Not do as much coke as you can, steal cars, and have sex with little kids. I have a profound respect for police officers and the jobs they do, and the law of this country. Honestly, its not that hard to go the speed limit. If you are late, thats your fault but don't kill someone in the process of trying to get somewhere on time. You should have left a little earlier.

Honest to God, I almost never speed. I stick to the speedlimit because I don't want to waste money on tickets, and I know the cleaner my record the better chance I have of getting a police job. I decided I wanted to be an officer when I was a junior in high school. I know how to achieve my goal. And that is done by not being a scumbag lawbreaker.

Thanks to people who gave honest responses and advice. What I don't appreciate is the arrogance and judgement of some. I know I've made mistakes, but who hasn't?
