scared of being disqualified

Age 16--> i brandished a fake gun I had in my waistband at a school mate. Charged and plead guilty/convicted w/ Aggrivated Assault (non felony) Sentenced to 6 mo's probation by JV Courts.
Now age 30 since then have clean life Been w/ current employer for 6yrs perfect record ( i did smoke pot 2 times in college in the mid-late 90s), Stole less then 500 bucks combined in my entire life (nothing more than $50 at a time) Thinking about applying for LE position, would it be even worth it to try or am i screwed cuz of my JV conviction and I should keep my day job. Any advice would be nice.

I'm not going to say you're automatically screwed here, as much of this seems to have been over 10 years ago, BUT, you did say you stole ~ $500 in your lifetime (~ $50 times each occurance). Okay, so that's roughly 10 times you've stolen $50. How often ago was this? How long has it been since your last theft? During how long of a period did these +/- 10 thefts occur?

Actually it is far less than $500. I probally should have said "no more" than $500 total from age 10. When I was 14 I stole $50 bucks from my dad's money stash got my butt beat for it. Didnt even have the chance to spend it. The biggest thing I stole outside of that was age 15 a bicycle rim and tire from a friend of a friend.. Last time I stole something big was 2000-2001 good ol Napster, downloaded total of 15-20 songs. Here at work we provide our own stuff (pens, stapler, ect ect so whew I havent had the chance to steal somethin from here).

Therein lies the problem. It would show your attitude to theft hasn't changed one bit. I wouldn't be rolling out the welcome mat to hire you.
