    My Background History

I have a few questions on whether or not anyone thinks these parts of my history will affect the hiring process of a police officer.

I have never been convicted of any crimes or anything like that, not one time in jail, not traffic tickets nothing along those lines. I havent used any drugs, I have used alcohol underage, but have quit that also.

My biggest concern is when I was a sophmore in high school I used to go out and smash mail boxes, even lit a few on fire. Other than that I think Im clean, is this going to be a big concern do you think?

Just wondering if they ask alot about mailcious distruction of property and things like that.
    Any info would help!

How old are you? Smashing mailboxes is not only a felony, but a federal charge. I don't know dude... you definitely should have put this post in ask a cop... I bet your going to be flamed. So your an arsonist? I'm sorry but even if you are an elder of mine, you are the person everyone hates... my street was smashed by some punks back April 1, 2001. If fact those morons used quarter-sticks of dynamite.

The definition of justice would be for you to be hired and your first call will be to respond to a street where every last one of 150 mailboxes was smashed. That would be 150 victim pages on your IBR and 150 property descriptions of beat up mailboxes.:D

Seriously, put some time between, don't do anything else stupid and be honest when asked. No one can really say how the agency you apply to will respond but them.

Yeah Its no excuse and i'm not happy about the things I have done but It is my belief (could be wrong) that everyone has done something that their not proud of in their life time.

Like I said this happened over four years ago and I havent done anything since that should be a problem.

I just hope my one night of being a teenager is going to cause me too loose the career of my dreams!

    Thanks for your replies.

Lots of officers did stupid things when we were younger. None of us is perfect. What you are describing may be seen as typical stupid teen behavior, or it may be looked upon more seriously. It depends on the agency.

As webjeep mentioned, just don't do anything else stupid and be honest when it comes to your background investigation.

    Good luck.
I used to care. Now I take a pill for that.
