Yea, I called personell yesterday and it said I hadn't passed nor failed it yet. So I called the psych department today and they swore up and down that they can't give out my results over the phone. She mentioned a letter was sent out the 8th of February and if I don't receive it by Friday of this week, to give them a call. The tone of her voice and attitude tells me I probably failed. :(

If her name starts with a "C" than it doesnt matter what the news is, she just sounds like shes in desperate need of a vacation. When I called I was told I passed in complete monotone.
In all seriousness, realize that they take calls from thousands of applicants a day, so you have to forgive them for not sounding jovial on the phone. 30 days is extreme. Call 213-473-3780, it is the mentoring unit, they WILL help you out. I remember when I took my psych, I was almost literally promised the Feb. academy..so on friday before the first day, you could imagine my panic because I hadnt heard anything by 3 pm and I called every LAPD # that I had available and I came across the mentoring units main# from the orientation and hoped they could help. They stopped their busy schedule to try and help me..and were able to. The mentors have been a life saver on more than one occasion during this process.

Thanks for the words Berlioz and I think we're speaking of the same person. :p
I really shouldn't think I've been DQ'd yet considering personell said my status doesn't even show disqualification. You'd think after all these weeks and a letter already being sent out that it would show me being DQ'd.
Trying to staying to optimistic here, but it's hard when something you've prepared for 20+ years is on the line.
Got a letter yesterday stating that I passed my psychological exam! Woot! I'm done with everything. Now for the last hurdle of the hiring board and commander!
Nice Job! I wish I could be in your shoes. Good Luck!
This is my first posting
I Have taken the exam for LAPD in Chicago in July ( I also have taken the Chicago exam) I passed and flew out here in Sept for the expedited process, which consists of the Questionnaire, PAT 1, Polygraph and Board Interview, my BI has cleared.
I spoke to my Case Manager at the end of Jan and he said that he has reviewed my case and sent it to his boss and that from there it is sent to tbe "board". That was four weeks ago he said that I would receive a response in two weeks, I am expecting a DQ due to bad credit (school loans but less then $5000 in credit cards)
I have a college degree, have worked in retail and bars for the past 5 years.
lets see what else, bilingual, not the "marrying type" and 30 something, like others I just wish I was not in limo land anymore.
Am thinking of applying to other departments in SO CA, but part of me wants to hightail it back to sweet home Chicago.
OK, I am kinda spilling my guts here but any info would be helpful.
Call your background investigator to find out what's going on. There is also a number posted on one of these boards to check your status. I'm afraid you'll have to search for it yourself, because I don't feel like it.![]()
I used to care. Now I take a pill for that.
took my oral psych on 2/14 and I got a letter in the mail on 2/17 telling me to call them to make my self available for the upcoming academy.
I called them on 2/20 9:00 am telling them I want to be in the next academy class they call me back on 3:00pm telling me I'm selected! At this point I still couldnt believe it, because like my friend the lawyer always tell me "have it in writing".
Went to background today (2/21) to give a hair sample and they handed me the letter telling me that I'm selected for the March class!! I'm in![]()
Congratulations!:D
Congratulations! As I have stated before: Stay humble and respectful and stand clear when necessary!
And when you finally do graduate, and make it to your division.... do not answer your cell phone during roll call.. I almost choked on my spit, when the new boot (I'm one too ;) )gets a phone call from his wife when the LT is walking in. He picks it up and says he can't talk right now... lol.. Set your women straight about the whole cell thing while on probation...
Congrats!!! :p
