    Unhappy Thinking about giving up...

Well, the unthinkable happened today. I got called into the Sgt's office and reminded that my employment was conditional on passing my background, my psych, and my physical. Wondered what was going on when the Sgt told me that something had come up in my background and they had to let me go. Felt like the ULTIMATE FOOL getting led around by the Sgt to get checked out of everywhere...

Maybe this is a sign or something that I shouldn't be going into law enforcement.

Of course, absolutely NO WORD on whatever it could have been that popped up. And for the life of me, I can't think of what it could be as I divulged every possible thing I've done during my poly and hiring interview.

Maybe I should start making crap up so when they DON'T find something they are happy!

I really am thinking about just quitting the academy and trying to concentrate on something that I can actually get started on a career on.

I'm so totally depressed right now. I hate being unemployed, makes me feel like a sub-human. Can't provide right for my family, I'm a loser. Gonna go to bed and read myself to sleep.

Crap I hate days like today. On top of all that, I lost a button off my uniform shirt while at school tonight...

Can't believe I turned down airline jobs for this... :(

Let me lend you some support right now, first Law enforcement is for people who will fight for the job. I must admit getting on in Florida is very tough, i would not give up so easily if i were you. You are definatly not a loser at all, in fact i must say that not everyone gets as far as you did. Keep your head up and reapply for some surrounding departments. A sgt. once told me that if you want a job in FL you have got to apply to 5 departments because they have so much applicants that are more qualified that you might just walk away with one. Keep your head up Pal!!

Keep plugging. From what I know of you, you WILL get hired.

I just had something pop up in my background, and it turned out to be some dumb broad in Louisiana using my Social Security Number.

Still the investigators won't tell me who she is, and my local PD won't investigate it - I guess I'm gonna have to hire a Private Detective to find out who the hell she is and what she did to get my SSN on NCIC.:mad:

I have often wondered if throwing up roadblocks at condidates is part of the process. It seems like most officers I have spoken to were tangled up in something or another that delayed them from getting hired for months or even years. You are not the first person this has happened to, so don't quit just yet.

Remember: things that are worth having are worth fighting for, so keep fighting if you really want to be in law enforcement. You may not end up at the agency you originally wanted to be part of, but who cares? Throw out your applications everywhere, and I'm sure you will get hired.

    Good luck.
I used to care. Now I take a pill for that.

I saw a job application the other day. It wanted me to list every job I had ever been turned down for, regardless of reason.

Let me tell you, that's one damn long list. You just have to keep plugging away at this. Accept that this is a temporary obstacle, and move on. Go over it. Go around it. Heck, you're a Marine -- go through it! :D

Eventually, you will find your place. It may seem sappy, but everything has a way of working out in the end.

I'd hound them until they caved in and gave you some information. Also, try the central florida area, lots of places around here are hiring.

The SGT might not be able to release what they dug up, but it will have to go into you personnel file. Wait a few days then request you file. Those files are public record, except for you contact information.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

Translation for the intellectually challenged: If the government screws the people too much, it is the right and duty of the people to revolt and form a new government.
