    written test notes

I am studying for the Trooper exam using the ARCO study guide. I am trying to simulate the test conditions and one of the “practice tests” consists of a page and a half story. Once you read it, you then answer questions based on the reading. I started to jot some notes down while reading the story, but the guide does not disclose either way if the test allows note taking during this section of the actual test. I was told during the memory portion of the actual test; where you review photos and information you may not take notes. Just curious what I should expect.

Thank you for the continued help and support!

If its a memory exercise you will NOT be allowed notes so practice remembering as much important info as you can in the exercises.

I've never heard of note taking being allowed before, either, especially during the MEMORY portion (its a memory test, not a note taking test).

Look, as long as you have a basic grasp of the english language, can tell the difference between when to use 'two' versus 'too, then you should have no problem passing the written test. In my opinion, the written is the easiest portion of the whole hiring process. Just relax, take a deep breath, and fill in the right box. Don't turn a purring kitty into a raging demon by 'over studying/researching'.

    Good luck!

Just an update to this post. The exam I was studying for was for the Colorado State police. You are permitted to take notes during all parts of this exam but no calculator. If you find you are doing well on the practice tests in the Arco study guide, you should do fine on the actual exam. I guess I should not say that until I get my results (up to 8 weeks!) Wish me luck! The most important question I hear I need to prepare to answer during my BI is "What happens if you issue a ticket and you are not wearing your hat?" :D Thanks again for all the help!

8 weeks, that sucks. Wonder how long the rest of the process is?

I got my results in about 3 minutes for the last written I did. With 1500-2000applicants every 6 months they don't have time to think about pushing you through the rest of the process after they look over your written for 8 weeks.
Just one of many reasons to wear a helmet!
