    Need advise on my hiring process

    hello everyone...im new to this forum (nice web by the way). im currently in the hiring process for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. i passed everything but the "phycological interview". i appealed the interview and im just waiting for the next step. my question is...do you guys really think i can pass the appeal so that i can be a DEPUTY SHERIFF??? thanks anything would help..:confused:

    John, it never hurts to appeal. I went through the appeals process with the Cincinnati Police Department and got the job.

    thank you Cindy-Cop!!!...im really determined to be a deputy sheriff...i passed everything even the (polygraph) Cindy!!!i just dont know what happened...does the appeal take long Cindy??? would the L.A.C.S.D take me more seriouly because i appealed??? thanks for replying and i do own a BULLITT MUSTANG!!! its #4479, how cool you own one too.....if you want add me as a buddy to your list....thanks

    John, please stop calling me "Cindy".

    The appeals process went pretty quickly on this end. One week max from receiving the disqualification letter to the review board. I was informed within three hours following the review board that I was reinstated into the application process. I hope that it goes that quickly for you. Good luck!

    That's a good question.

    I talked with my background investigator following the review board when I was disqualified. He told me that many applicants are disqualified and that few applicants, once disqualified, appeal. That sounds like a "how much do you want the job" sort of thing. Are you willing to jump through another hoop? Damn right! About half of our recruit class went through the appeals process. I don't know how LACSD works but I would imagine it would be similar to Cincinnati Police.

    An appeal (in a law enforcement application context) is an attempt to be reinstated in the application process following disqualification. In the Cincinnati Police process, an appeal is submitted via writing and going before a review panel. The applicant is allowed to articulate the circumstances regarding his/her disqualification in the presence of the review panel. The review panel then decides whether or not to reinstate the applicant.
