Hey guys, i had made a thread last week about a 911 dispatcher job i applied for. I sent a nice curtosy e-mail to the Human Resources officer yesterday and she called me for an interview today. and we set up the interview for next tuesday. She said i will be doing like a test on the computer. may take 3hrs?

1. What do you think would be appropriate clothes for this?

2. What do you think they will be having me do on the computer?

Torn jeans and a faded concert t-shirt. They will be impressed with your knowledge of their casual work environment.

They want to know how good you are at Internet research. Come prepared with a list of good Internet porn sites so you can show off your skills. The more obscure and kinky they are the better.

Dress to impress... duh :D

As far as the test, I went out for a dispatcher job once. This is the test I took... http://www.criticall911.com/ It goes over a lot of the aspects of the job. (No, not eating cheetos :D)

Suit. Gray or blue, yes. Leisure, not so much.

Check out that CritiCall site. That's the test I took. Also, a typing test to determine your words-per-minute and error rate should probably be expected.

Bear in mind, too, that your dress should continue to be, at a minimum, business casual (without jeans!) even after you get hired. If you're uniformed, that's great. If not, continue to dress professionally. There were plenty of times that we had unannounced visits from folks, including "sit-alongs," group tours, the media, political types, fire and police chiefs from our (and other) jurisdictions, etc. We even had a group of ranking officials from some military (Latvia or something) come in to observe our center, as they were developing their own emergency operations center. You never know who will be coming in. You may be out of the public eye 99% of the time, but the 1% of the time that you do get seen may more than make up for the other 99%.
