    another background issue

    About 1 year and 3 months ago I had a roommate that smoked pot. I lived in the house with him for about 3 years. I never smoked any myself but was aware that it was going on in the house. So my question is will this affect me if I apply now?

    Cut your ties with him. He will or that situation could bring you down.

    I have cut my ties with him. I just don't know if having been around pot in the recent past will be a deal killer for me.

    Nope, he is not a CFI... I was just imagining a BI walking knocking on the door to ask him some questions and walking out with my old roommate in cuffs... I guess if he did say anything bad about me it wouldn't be credible right?

    If you havent smoked weed dont worry about it, they will interview friends and family and if your given a poly that will be on there so dont worry about it.

    Good to hear he's not a CFI.

    Regarding your question, hopefully a BI will chime in. I'm not quite sure how they handle situations like that. Background Investigators are damn good at getting to the bottom of things.

    As far as background investigations go does the investigator ask lots of questions about the canidates history and then compile their own list, or are they looking for a really long list of references compiled by the canidate to work with? I am going to guess the former but I am not sure. It seems that when my brother went through the process they didn't really go to far with things. They didn't even call anybody in the family.

    WEll of course your famly is going to say good things about you so they dont weigh that as much. I was asked to give 3 references, everyone else the BI talked to he found on his own, former supervisors, employees, neighbors, teachers etc.
