What you have going for you is that with your age you've had a significant amount of time since your problems, to demonstrate that you are a changed person.

The problem is the stuff you mentioned was pretty serious. I think you'll find that if you aren't disqualified you will have an immense difficulty competing with other candidates.

Thanks for your insight. I know that it's going to be difficult, but at least I'm in the process. Actually, I was surprised when I got a letter in the mail to tell me that I was invited to come down to take the entrance exam. I filled out an online application that asked all of the questions about drug and criminal history. After that I really didn't even expect a chance.
