I PASSED!! and quick question about transfers

Finally received my score on my NJ LEO exam passed with a score of 92.5. Now I just sit back and wait, cross my fingers that my score was high enough to make it through.

Now looking to the future I might be moving out of state in a few years (for my gf's career). I know this is a long ways off considering I only just got the exam results and all but if I were to become a LEO in NJ can I transfer to another department in another state without having to go through the entire process again. And what about pension will I have to start over again when I transfer? thanks

Most of my area agencies require 2-years of service at your previous agency for a lateral transfer, I believe you take the poly/psych and physical/medical then you go through a Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission "Equivalency Course" which is basically a short "mini-academy" to dumb you up on the way things are around here as opposed to where you are coming from.

A lot of that depends on what department you apply for. However, I recently tranferred to a department in Washington, after moving from Alaska, and I had to go through the entire hiring process over again except for the physical agility. Most departments I looked into required this as well. So yeah, expect to go through the written, oral, psych, poly, background all over again...fun fun!

As far as your retirement goes, it depends what program you're with. I have LEOFF now but was on PERS in Alaska so I had to start over...well..maybe the fact that I cashed my retirement out so I could buy a house had something to do with it too. I'd check with your department of interest to verify that.
