Hey all
I am sure these questions recycle themselves over and over again, so I apologize.
I am currently serving in the Air Force, I am 26 years old. I am Security Forces (military police). I am done in late Feb 07 and heading back home to NYC. I am of course looking to continue in a field of law enforcement / security, since it is what I went to school for in the AF.
Here is my problem. I am being medically discharged due to having a small count of panic disorders, as well as stress. The doctor told my command that it is not something to worry about, that I could finish my enlistment, but they saw it fit to discharge me from the military. In turn I was told by my doctor that the military was not for me to begin with, and in turn was a good idea to leave and take the medical benefits, that the reason I am having panic attacks and stress and situational depression is military related, and civilian life will be better for me.
SO, I have been diagnosed with situational depression, and have taken medication in the past. My doctor also wrote in his reports that I can bear a firearm (currently using M4 Carbine, M203 grenade launcher, M249 SAW, M9 pistol on the job) and would also included in my reports that I am not a hazard.
Obviously this is now an uphill battle.
I have 75 college credits, a military backround (1.5 years) and went to the Security Police academy in Lackland AFB, TX.
Any opinions on this matter?
