As I browse through some of the posts in this forum, Im curious as to how my past will probably affect my chances with the NYPD? Im currently in college, double majoring in Criminal Justice and Journalism. My dream is to work with the NYPD, me being a NY native. I have a clean record, good credit, everything's spot clean. The thing that fucks me up is that I used to smoke marijuana. I can't count the times I've done it, but it's definately more than 6-7 times as most people on here have claimed.
Im just getting started with my degree and I have a long way to go before I even reach the NYPD doorstep, but, how serious do you think my case is? Is that an automatic DQ?

One of the factors is going to be the time between that last time you smoked and the time you apply. Another factor will be was it 10-15 times or was it 100-200 times? If its really high you'll definitley have a significant hurdle to overcome. Good luck

How does 5-6 years sound? And shoot..I still have a couple of years before Im even ready to attempt the NYPD. I just want to know I still have a "chance," that it's something that can be overcome.
