In addition to the money order, clipboard, pens etc., was anybody else told to go over some instructions received at the mini-medical?

Yes. There's a form they gave out which dictates personal appearance, and the required materials (which were mentioned before).

I was also told, which is not on the paper; KNOW YOUR BLOOD TYPE!

The below was obviously not told to me by any official member of the NYPD, but friends and family who are police officers have given me the advice below:

Have everything prepared and don't give anyone a reason to get on you. Also have to remember that all the yelling and insults you may hear/receive are not personal, and is merely meant to weed out the "weaker" individuals.

I have completed the process and investigators just came to my house so I could take them to my neighbors that speak english. They said I was 3Q and this was probrably gonna put me at 4Q. They said just to check in with my investigator tomorrow. Then one of them said have fun at the academy. Can anyone explain the Q's to me. I am anxious for the academy.

Q is a quadrant. There are 4 quadrant's which must be completed to begin the academy.

The last quadrant which you have to fulfill is probably the character investigation part, which was what the visit was about.

thanx for the quick responses. I feel at ease now that they have shown up. Congrats to those of you who have been called. Hopefully i will get the call tomorrow and will be at ease. Now that they have shown up i'm more nervous than ever. I already have the passport photos and am going to get the holder tomorrow.

No that's not true. I went through this process in July but didn't go into the academy because of a filing error which was my investigators fault. The investigators came to my house about a week after the class was sworn in because they had thought I was sworn in and didn't know about he error.

This time around they haven't come to my block to ring bells, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do it next week or not at all. Think it's more of a "when they get to you" type of thing. I wouldn't worry about them not coming yet.

My brother in law is narcotics and he was down at 1 PP last week to buy some supplies so I had him get the ID holder for me ahead of time because I had heard that if you wait till the last minute you'll never get it. I think it cost $16.99 or something close to that, and it's made well for the money.
