Voice stress or Poly? what's harder?

I will be taking the voice stress test for College Park PD. I was wondering, which one is a harder test? The is one of the best forums I ever encountered. I hope to learn a lot from the other LEOs & soon to be Leos on this board. thanks.

Neither one is hard to take. For each you just go in and answer the questions truthfully. Easy.

What can be exceedingly difficult, depending on a variety of conditions, is "passing" either test. It would make sense if telling the truth ensured you would pass, but that simply isn't the case.

However, since there is really nothing you can about passing the test (regardless of which one you take) it is not worthwhile to worry about it. Go take the test, tell the truth, and if for some reason the examiner decides your test results indicate deception, cross that agency off your list and go apply elsewhere.

It's easy if you tell the truth, but the VSA is arguably less accurate that the poly.

VSA is just a mic clipped to your shirt, or something similar. I'm sure you Googled this topic:rolleyes: , but this is what I found:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voice_stress_analysis
    http://www.polygraph.org/voicestress.htm

There's lots of other research suggesting that VSA isn't very accurate. It's generally cheaper, which keeps it popular in smaller-budgeted agencies.

I took a VSA for a county law enforcement position. I have a poor opinion of it due to the fact that I failed it, without being untruthful.

Just tell the truth and try to relax.

Didnt the guy who invented VSA come out and say it was an unreliable system?

The company that makes the CVSA wrote in a court filing for a lawsuit in California that the CVSA is not capable of lie detection.

There's this one TERRIBLE MTV show called Exposed. I think they use this VSA, and by the results I've seen when my sister watches it, it's a terrible system.
