In 1981 I was charged with simple possesion of marijane. I am 42 years old now. I am in the process of applying for a job at my local sheriffs dept. I hope to go through our local blet program august 2007 than go on to join the sheriffs dept. Will they check my Juvenile record? someone help me.:confused:

They will look at everything. That charge, if it's your only worry, will hardly raise an eyebrow given the time frame. If you lie about it then you're done. There won't be a department around that'll touch you if you lie on an application or background packet.

If you are deceptive about it you will be disqualified forever from law enforcement. Given the long time frame, if that's your only problem, you shouldn't have any trouble at all.
