OK, but that's why we have word processors with spell checkers. In fact, this forum even has a built-in spell checker. When it detects a word that it doesn't know, it puts a red line below it. This marking usually indicates that the word is misspelled.

Attention to detail is an essential part of being a police officer.

    Angel,

Most guys in here don't like it when they have to read "ur" or any internet slang I have done this in the past and will not do it any more just thought I would give you a heads-up on that subject. Good luck getting into Law Enforcement.

I might sound harsh here, but I feel it is critical for me to be. A lot of employment areas, particularly those with the state and government, are not going to hire you unless you can properly spell words and use correct grammar.

A lot of people actually do have trouble with grammar and spelling. Though today, there is no excuse to be lazy about it, especially where it is not welcomed. There are spell checkers, dictionaries, online tutorials that can help. Even Microsoft Works Processor and Word Processor have a spell and grammar check.

The problem I see most people having is the fact they're not willing to try to improve. I mean, I'm terrible at math. However, I didn't just moan and complain about it. I practiced and practiced and went up from grades of Fs to grades of Cs. The main key is to practice.

If anyone moans and complains about how they can't spell or use grammar correctly, or even do anything in particular, but aren't even willing to try to improve, they have no one to blame but themselves. I'm sorry, but that's the way I feel.

Is this the same thing you're going to tell the judge when you're being questioned under oath about the inaccuracies in your incident report?

Cops get tired, work long hours, get sick, and work during the difficult Christmas season, too. But don't expect a judge to take any of it into consideration when your on the stand as a witness for the prosecution during a trial against someone you've arrested.

You must spread some reputation around before giving it to RO56 again.

I always thought it would help to have efficient spelling, grammar, and sentence structure in being a police officer. It's obvious that it would be a fantastic idea to write every single detail pertaining to an incident occuring in the job. I'd probably annoy my possible future supervisors by writing 5 page reports; I would still do it for the sake of saving my butt in court.
