My dad and brother are both felons. My dad stole a car back in 1984 and my brother did 4 years for armed robbery back in 1996. I know it's not supposed to matter but I can't help thinking that it does.
Does anyone agree or disagree on this point?

Sounds like you are a shoe in for your local Bureau of Felons Union....
Oh, did you mean will it affect you becoming a cop? :D
I would say it may not bar you from getting it but it is going to cause the investigators to take a long hard look at you...

One of the kids in the academy with me is in a similar situation. His dad is still in prison and his brother has been in and out for a while. He has a job offer on the table right now for him.
Please do a search on family felons, it's been covered a thousand times here. You can't choose family.

"I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because some people out there in our nation don't have maps and I believe that our education like such as in South Africa and the Iraq and everywhere like such as and I believe that they should our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S. or should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future for us."
Mostly, at least in my hiring process..and all that I have heard of, they ask about FRIENDS...as you can choose who you hang out with, its not your fault however, what your family does. You really can't do much if they do something, but if your friends do, then you can just get new ones. Good luck bud!
Same situation as you...
Dad - habitual drunk driver = Felon
Brother - Serving time on a drug charge = Felon
Myself - Employed in law enforcement and loving it
So in my case, it did not matter. Like another said above, you can't choose your family....
Good luck!
For our agency, Chewy's assessment is right on the money.
