for any of the nypd guys: equipment

can someone with some time out on the street telll me the equipment that will make my life on the footpost alittle more tolerable. So far, i have two handcuffs, streamlight stinger flashlight, gloves, underarmor, boots. I plan on getting earmuffs and a second pair of search gloves that are slash resistant to go along with the pair they gave us at 1pp. I got the trama plate as well. Anything else that will help?

seems like your off to a good start but i wouldnt go too crazy with the gloves for searching people because after a few times you will realize wearing gloves while searching doesnt work to well just get a pair that will keep perps blood off your hands while your fighting with them
NYPD the job that hates you back

Get search gloves that give you some type of cut protection but are thin enough for you to still shoot with them on. In other words something you can wear at all times. Keep the thick latex gloves (get them from EMS on the road) in a back pocket or get a buff pouch if you prefer. Earmuffs and the "Russian" winter hats can be a good investment, along with the Commando sweater for cold weather. Pocket size hand warmers may be needed depending upon the weather and where your post is.

Due to the current pay scale I would recommend just what you have now plus search gloves (and latex) - and wait on the rest until the weather gets colder and you really need it.

Come to the verified side. We're lacking of NYPD guys. :p Be safe out there.

Welcome, i like using leather batting gloves instead of the search gloves, they still give you protection but i found when gettin into scuffles, those gloves wouldnt' do anything. And i would say ditch the academy jacket and get a quality one. and a box of handwarmers for impact footpost during winter. i try to carry as little as i can on my belt and on me, with just the stuff i need.
