I was wondering if having firefighter certificates would help me or hurt me in regards to becoming a police officer. I am 25 and have a 4 year degree and a 2 year degree. I was deciding between being a firefighter or a police officer, so I went to firefighter school first and about 2 months into it decided that I would rather be a police officer. I didn't want to just quit though, so I finished. Thanks

The only way is would help you is if you applied to a Public Safety department.
But, even then, they will still train you again.

The more education you have the better. Definitely look into the above mentioned public safety department. May have to get EMT certified also, not sure though.

It won't hurt. I know officers who were EMT's, firefighters, math professors, and so on before joining up. :D
I used to care. Now I take a pill for that.
